  • Beat Heat for Charity

Skate for $6, and AWIC matches temperature for charities

Chill. Skate. Help kids with cancer, and endangered wolves. Can't beat that. But you can beat the heat. Enjoy a cooooldown at the Arctic Wolf Ice Center.

Drop into the only ice center within 100 miles of College Statiion any day this summer through August 20 for the Noon-2 p.m. public skating session, and here's what happens:

    1. Pay just $6 admission, including skate rental -- 40% off the usual fees.

    2. Arctic Wolf will then match the temperature the day you skate with a contribution (98 degrees, 98 cents; 102 degrees, $1.02 donation) to divide between two local organizations:

All Arctic Wolf Ice Center public skating sessions, including the daily midday "Beat the Heat" special, are open to skaters of any age, size, and skill level.

Arctic Wolf Ice Center also offers a rock wall for climbing, and other features and activities in the state-of-the-art facility at 400 Holleman Drive East, where AWIC celebrated its third birthday Sunday, June 22.
